The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has been accredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) since 2006.  VLEPSC was established to provide law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth with an avenue for demonstrating that they meet commonly accepted standards for efficient and effective agency operation. 

VLEPSC has four sets of standards:  administration, operations, personnel and training. The entire Sheriff’s Office must meet elements of each of these standards and provide proof of adherence to them on an annual basis. The primary responsibility however falls upon the Administrative Services Division to ensure that the process and its deadlines are met.  Reaccreditation will take place on November 30, 2014.  This is a four year cycle and Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office is on term number two of the October 2010 through October 2014 cycle.
