Pawns

Spotsylvania County currently has six pawn shops and six precious metals and gems dealers.  Transaction slips are collected, sorted and compiled on a weekly basis from each business by one part-time detective and then gone through for comparison on stolen property.  Numerous amounts of stolen property are recovered on a weekly basis and criminal cases are routinely initiated by the detective from the pawns and the information he gains from them.  The detective also acts as a liaison with the dealers and assures they are operating within the counties policies, procedures, ordinances and state codes and ensures all yearly fees, applications and paperwork is completed.
